just perfect...

We have been lucky enough to celebrate the 1st b'day of our gorgeous boy, Tobie, this week...
What can I say?? This little guy has simply stolen all of our hearts and we couldn't imagine a life without him in it, not for one single minute! To celebrate we had a bit of a party out here on the farm - just the girls and I and DH, but you know what, that was more than enough and we had a super time! ~ there was cake and sparkles and all kinds of outside fun to be had by us all!!

After already having 2 babies grow up in my home I've learnt that they don't really want for much in the way of material processions. So, we ditched the store bought gifts this year and celebrated Tobie's special day in a different kind of way - 2 new rabbits and a few handmade treasures were all we(he) really needed...

By the squeals of excitement, from all 3 of my kids, when our cute little bunnies were unwrapped I can already tell that they are going to be a huge hit!

Connie even made Tobie a little crochet blanket to keep his new littlest critters cosy...

And you know what? She just kinda taught herself how to crochet this week and this is her first creation - pretty awesome, even if I am a little bias because she's my girl and all... rabbit 4
She just said to me about a week ago that the thinks she has watched me do it for long enough and that she thinks she can kinda do it by herself....

So, I watched, and helped a little where needed, and she slowly fumbled her way through her first granny square and you know what?? It's just perfect!! Don't you think?

In our garden this week we are happily harvesting beetroot,
beets
lots of beetroot, and loving that our depleted pickled beetroot stores will now be replenished...

32nd B'day!!!!

Today I'm celebrating my 32nd b'day, hanging out with my gorgeous family putting the finishing touches on a special kind of 'refurbishment'.... You see, I have these girls, they're kind of special to me, each and every day they take my kitchen waste, the stuff that would normally end up in the rubbish bin, and they turn it into the most spectacular of things - fresh, delicious, creamy, golden eggs...

But, they have this home, it's a little worse for wear - so, when DH asked me what I wanted for my b'day this year the answer was easy, a new home for my special girls!!! As a family we searched through our paddocks for just the right posts, rummaged through our scrap yard for the perfect second-hand mesh and tinkered and tapped until everything fit just right...

And all the while we did it together as a family - something that I'll remember for years to come I'm sure...

The perfect kind of day and I was lucky enough that it was my b'day too..

Harvested from my garden this afternoon was the first of my leeks!!! I've tried for years to grow this elusive vegetable and for some reason or another I've failed miserably!!! But, this year they're actually growing!! Not sure what I've done differently but what ever it is/was it's working...

And yes - I'm still hooked on the tapestry crochet from back in my last post and the past couple of days have seen me making this paper doll washer,
washer
and this 'spotty' washer (both designed by my 7yr old, Connie - awesome hey??)...

note : : both washers were made using 8ply cotton...

So.....

What are you harvesting this week??

Are you working on anything new?? How 'bout refurbishing something that's a little old and worn out???

I'd love to hear all about it...

My girls helped pick and prepare the sweetest lunch that had all of the things this Mummy loves - home grown veg, garlic, cheese, handmade pasta and deep fried fresh herbs. Yes - deep fried herbs and they're AWESOME!!!! Today we had oregano, YUM-MO!!!!!

I was also spoiled by some gorgeous local ladies in town on Saturday. We had b'day cake and the sweetest little party. Thank you Suz, Lois, Caz-y and Rory, its been a long while since anybody (other than my family) has made me feel that special....

Spring Seed Swap?

I had big plans of sharing a late Winter garden update with you all this post, full of beautiful pictures of Wintry produce such as peas (...
