My gorgeous little sister gave birth to her first child the other day, a beautiful baby girl... Can you believe it???? Well I nearly couldn't!!!! I still picture her (my sister) as a little girl herself... I know very well that over the years she's evolved into an amazing woman and she's going to make a sensational mother but I guess it's just that 'big sister' in me that's finding it a bit hard to get my head around it all......
She went into labour at 3:30am on Friday the 27th June and delivered her little bundle of joy which weighed in at 6pound10 at 7am that same morning, no drugs no stitches nothing!!! Was this woman born for making babies or what???? It took me nearly 2 weeks but last Thursday night I finally finished sewing up this cot quilt for my new little niece.....I went with a 'T' quilting block in 2 shades of pink and then added some green into the sashings to tie in with the nursery rhyme backing fabric that I used.... It measures about 1 metre by just under 2 metres and I hand embroidered the label on the front along the bottom... (you can just see it in the first pic if you look really closely)... I've also got my eye on these and this for my new little niece and am just waiting on some fabric from here so I can get started on them both....
Take Care :)
Congratulations to your sister! (And to you, well done on the quilt).

ReplyDeleteCongrats to your sister and to 'Auntie Jodie'. What is her name?
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt too...well done!
How sweet! She is lovely. And so is your quilt. The pattern for the shoes from stardustshoes is a good one - I think I made small change though. I altered the base pattern to make them a left and a right (like the bottoms of real shoes). I don't think you need to but it just made them a little more shapely. Am I making sense or do I sound like a looney? Mmm, don't answer that! :)
ReplyDeletecongratulations, I love those little shoes and only wished I'd found them when Baby G was smaller

is your sister far from the hospital? My first birth was 3.5 hours from when my waters broke. Subsequent labours were around 50-60min until the last one, which was 30min.
ReplyDeleteMy last three were unattended homebirths.
