HELP PLEASE!!!! Oh, and some exciting news....

DH, the little princess and I headed over to Bourke for a farm clearing sale on Saturday. They're always such a great family day out. Here's the little princess having a spell in a bucket of nuts and bolts that DH bought...
I always manage to pick up loads of goodies at these kinds of sales.... The 2 hoes in the pic above I grabed for $1 each and the Welburn wood stove in the pic below was only $5, yes that's right, $5....
I want to get it re-enameled so that I can put in my new kitchen (that's when it finally gets started in September) but I need a bit of HELP first.... I was wondering if there were any women (or men) out there that have one of these ovens in their home at the moment. If so, do you use it????? Has anyone ever put one in there home??? If so, how did you do it??? We have one in our cottage that's built into a fireplace so I was wondering if I would need to do the same thing if I was putting one in my home???? Is it hard to get the temperature right in this kind of oven when you're baking??? And lastly does any body know where I could find an old manual for this oven??? Wow!!! That's a lot of questions, I know, but I'd so love to build my new kitchen around an old classic like this....
On the farm front, I had a new arrival on Friday last week..... This little treasure is this little girls first baby and let me tell you now, she's doing a sensational job as a mother... :)
And hopefully I will be able to too when baby number 2 comes along in December (you can just see my baby bump in the pics above)..... Yes that's right I'm pregnant with my second bub, 16 weeks and 6 days to be exact... DH and I went to the doctors today to confirm our suspicion's and we even got a chance to hear the heart beat. I have a scan this weekend over at Dubbo so I'll post some pics of the little one next week.

I found out the sex with my first baby but was thinking about leaving this one a surprise... What did you do when you were pregnant??? Did you find out the sex??? I'd love to hear your story...

Last but not least, I whipped up these cord pants for the little princess this morning before I headed to town for my 'day job'. I'm so pleased at how they turned out I can't wait to whip up another pair....Thanks for all of the lovely comments in regards to my scarf from the last post. I'll be posting the pattern for all of those ladies interested in a couple of days...

Take Care :)

  2. Wow, congratulations on the wonderful news about the baby - that's fantastic!

The stove was a fab buy! I'm so envious! I'd have to get it enameled in robins egg blue!

  6. Congratulations!!!, have you been keeping well? I hope so. I have two girls and we didn't find out either time. It is worth the wait, such excitement at THAT moment.
I love the stove, but would have no idea where to get bits or how to use it. Look forward to seeing the kitchen evolve though if that will be the main feature.

  7. Congratulations Jodie, I had a feeling you were going to say that. I love that you were 'suspicious' at more than 16 weeks!! I didn't find out the sex of any of my children as I couldn't bear to spoil the surprise. But that's just me. I know nothing about wood stoves - but what a bargain!!

  9. Well done on the stove front and heap big congratulations on the baby front. When I found out I was pregnant the first time I bought a house. Suggest not going that overboard.

  10. Congratulations Jodie and Mr Jelly... that sounds odd, but oh well.....I have 4 kids and didn't find the out the sex of any of them. I wanted it to be a surprise.
That stove looks a lot like one my mum had on her farm. If you can figure out how to install it you'll notice a huge difference in the taste of your cooking. Sounds odd I know but the roasts you'll be able to cook in that baby will be to die for.

  14. Congratulions jodie! Pleased you are feeling well.
I found out the sex of both babies, I don't think it takes one ounce of the fun away, there is still no greater excitement than pushing out a healthy baby-knowing the sex takes not the slightest bit away. I only told Dh though. With the first one I found out at an emergency ultrasound that he wasn't at, he walked in the door, took one look at me and said, "you know!!" There went that secret!
That oven is the biggest bargain, have you put the name of it into a google search? That is how I get all my info. I know nothing about them except the bargain part! Cute babies...human and otherwise! Tracey

  16. what exciting news... a little jelly bean on the way!!!!

why not google 'welburn'?? our neighbour has one, but they used it to heat water?? the neighbours complained about it going 24/7 in winter so he stopped using it all the time (grrr @ neighbour).. my neighbour where I grew up only just got an electric oven, can't imagine a hot oven in summer though! Grandma always reckons her scones tasted better in the wood oven.. they taste bloody ripper to me now in the electric! have fun working it out!!!

    Lissa
PS I'd check ebay for manuals from time to time they are there.. and see if the company still exists, google it perhaps???

  19. How exciting! Everything! You've got lots going on over there ;-) I hope you are feeling well.

We did not find out the sex of either of our boys and it was so much fun - but a miracle is a miracle either way ... best wishes!

  20. I'm so far behind with my blog lurking and look what news I'm behind on. Congratulations to you all. How exciting. I didn't have a chance to find out the sex with my first but I did with my second and I needed that as I was going through the pregnacy on my own. Sometimes you just can't see the sex as they have legs in wrong places etc. Would love to catch up if you have time on Saturday for a cuppa.

  22. wow - congratulations on the teeny baby bump. We found out the sex with both our bubs and named them soon after.

I have a gorgeous old wood oven in my kitchen, still with chimney and flu attached, but have never used it, despite offers from a nosey old neighbour to come over and show me how. I'd love to find out out how you go with yours.

  24. Congratulations with your new baby. I liked to have the surprise of not knowing with my babies (now 13 and 11). All the best. Clearing sales are so much fun and WHAT A BARGAIN. We have been looking for a stove like that for years and can't afford the prices we see. Hope you get it installed ok. Take care

  26. What a great find in your stove, it's going to look fabulous when finished. As for cooking on it, I think they all have their own temperaments. Fabulous food. I am so longing for our wood stove to be here and installed.
You mihgt want to check council regulations for installation, I am pretty sure that a second wood stove in a new house needs to be fully bricked in but am not sure what the requirements are for renovations.
Congratulations on your baby news, it is so exciting! i would love another bub, but with two rather mischievious little boys being almost 3 and 18months hubby is not keen on any more babies - time will tell!
I have friends near Narrabri with a Welburn - let me know if you want their email address.

  27. Oh what wonderful news for you! Hmm I didn't find out with baby no.1 , but did with no. 2 as the biggest surprise for us was seeing our baby, and I must admit that it was really nice being able to prepare some lovely things esp when No.2 wazs a bopy & no.1 was a girl. Did I make any sense at all with that??
BTW the oven was a great buy even just because it looks good!

  28. Exciting news! Wow.

That stove is an impressive buy. My aunt used to have one just like it, but she recently converted to a more modern one.

That little pink top, crossing over at the back, is cute as! (I wish they made adult sized versions of those!)

  29. Congratulations that is fantastic news. We found what we were having the second time around so we could prepare Amelia - it was nice to have her know and I think that she understood a little better what was going on - she also came to all of the ultrasounds with me and even at 20months she was able to tell us that it was a baby inside of me!

Love the wooden stove and pleased to hear that you are able to get it fixed and working for a fraction of the price - and yeah to getting it for $5 - might have to go and find a yard sale!

  30. Congrats on baby number 2. Love your stove, how nice will the food taste cooked in that once it is fixed up. Sounds like Charlie is an oven angel sent to help you out.

  31. oh wow thats excellent news, congratulations to you all - we found out the sex both times but didnt tell anyone so that everyone else could have a surprise. Your stove is a great bargain.

  32. Congrats! How did I miss this post? What wonderful news. I was suspicious at 4 1/2 weeks! I didn't find out the sex and wont next time - I love the great big surprise. Love the oven also - lots of people had those where I grew up in the country. I cooked my first roast in a wood oven.

  33. Fantastic news Jodi, The girls from down South will be pleased. Your stove looks great and i'm sure you will work it out beautifully.
    Keep up hte good work.

  34. Congratulations!!! What exciting news and I hope you're feeling well. Your bump looks so cute! I like to sew for my babies before they come and I'm not a fan of unisex colors so I found out the sex of all 5 of my babies and I don't regret it. It's a suprise no matter when you find out and you'll be suprised at what he or she looks like at birth anyway. Good luck with what ever you choose.
Those little pants are adorable. The color is great, it makes me want to find some dark brown fabric for my girls and whip them up a few pairs for fall.
