Oh The Possibilities!!!

I was checking out a few blogs this afternoon when I came across a link to the most amazing site. It's called myrecycledbag.com. You should really go check it out, it's unbelievable!!! There's a great tutorial there on how to turn your common plastic shopping bag into usable yarn (plarn). I can't emphasise enough how excited I am about this site!!!! You see I have about 500 or so plastic bags that I've been hording under my kitchen sink for God knows how long. I don't like to through them out and try to recycle them whenever I can. Well you use approximately 50 plastic bags to make one medium sized tote. Now how great is that? I have my first bag already lined up and ready to be plarned...
There's also a pattern for a plastic bag babies bib on the site. Too Clever!!! Also check out this Divine hand bag crocheted out of plastic bags and strips of denim. The possibilities are endless....

I am so impressed with everyone elses sewing, it's nice to get encouraging comments back.
Flickr has the FAA Lucky Parcel Swap. Just join Flickr then go here.
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/faa_lucky_parcels/
3 x small parcels to the USA still cost me $8.50 postage each.
They have swaps going all the time.
So this group is what I'm going to look at next.

I think this is only 1 x swap partner.
Next swap is coming up soon.
Also www.swap-bot.com is where all the different swaps are.
    Lovely to hear from you.
I will definately check out the recycled bag link. Sounds mad....

  4. Hi there! Thanks for your comments on my blog! You know, I'm not sure where the inspiration came from for the doll quilt. I chose the fabric first and went from there....originally it was going to have lots of leaves on it, but then it was too much so I kept taking them off and ended up with what you saw. Thanks for your lovely comments...keep checking back...and I'll have a read of YOUR blog!

  5. That's a great idea! Unfortunately, I use all my plastic bags to pick up my dog's poop. So, no plastic knitted bags for me. I can't wait to see what you come up with, though!

  7. Hi Ab,
I don't remember updating my profile... Are you sure?

    Hi Fiona,
The pleasure was all mine. Your work is worth complimenting.
Thanks for all the links for the swaps. I checked out the swap-bot one and OMG there are some swaps out there. All I have to do now is pick one. I liked the sound of this cute little one where you swaped a handmade apron and a kitchen utensil but unfortunately it was for the USA only, I'll just have to keep on looking.

    Hi Alaina,
Can't wait to see what you make with your plastic bags...

    Hi Rebecca, is Bec fine?
Where ever the inspiration came from I hope you visit that place often!!! You're right, any more leaves would have been too much. Once again your just too clever...

  9. Hello Jelly Wares:
I just saw your link back on my website. What a nice article you wrote about my site. I love to help others learn about recycled crafting. Recycled crafts are so much fun to create and your materials are nearly free in most cases.

Thank you so much for sharing MyRecycledBags.com with your readers. I hope you will come share your finished project link with me when you have completed your recycled bag.
