Hi there, I know that I blog as a way to brighten my day and sometimes forget that there actually might be more then say, a handful of people out there reading my posts as I very rarely get more than half a dozen comments.
Even though I'm blogging as a way of personal release there's nothing better than receiving feedback. I've been thinking that maybe I should ditch this little ol' blog and put my time into some other form of 'release'.
So, what makes you take the time to leave a comment on someone's blog posts? How do you find/follow me?
(Photo from yesterday in the sheep yards. What can I say? I love this little guy to bits!)
If you wouldn't mind, could you just leave a quick comment below letting me know what you think? Just a one answer response would be perfect!
THANKS :)
I have you in my side bar under 'Blogs I like to visit' and you've been there since before you had Millie. I love blogs about rural Australia, crafty Mumma's, Aussie life in general. There you are, a farmers wife, now mother of three cuties, a cooker of yummy things, gardener, crafter of beautiful knitted/crocheted things, hard working Aussie girl. Please keep blogging!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Joolz xx
WOW - that feels like forever ago as Millie is almost 5 now Joolz... :)
DeleteYour words are just perfect! A comment that I must read over every time I have a doubt about why I am actually writing for my blog...
Thank You so much Jules... xx
Have you tried Statcounter? It's nice to know people are reading, even if you're not getting comments! I like reading your blog, just don't have anything terribly insightful to say!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the 'statcounter' tip and thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment on this blog post - I really appreciate it... :)
DeleteI follow your blog from my Blogger Dashboard and love reading about your life and family and all that goes along with it! I don't have time right now to read all the blogs that I follow because I am in school and working, but every now and then when I have a few minutes to catch up, yours is one of my favorites. It's so nice to know that there are people out there who cherish their children and family and their way of life like you do. You are an inspiration to many!
ReplyDeleteMGM
Thanks Mary... I do cherish my children and my family and my way of life and am so glad that you have noticed and that it comes through in my blog posts. Your words have been an inspiration for me to continue blogging so thank you... xx
DeleteLove your blog, just don't have anything to add really, it is a lovely way to connect with other people
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to leave me a comment - it really means a lot to me... :)
DeleteI already told you how I feel. Haven't changed my mind at all and would miss not seeing you.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks Sequoia - I really did appreciate you taking the time to tell me the first time... xx
DeleteI follow you on blogger dashboard...I may not always comment, but I do read every time you post...I love reading your blog...I have been following you for a while and don't remember exactly how I came about your blog...I really enjoy the posts and would most definitely miss you if you stopped blogging...I really hope you will stay and continue to blog...
ReplyDeleteI love it when you comment on my posts Wendy, it always brightens my day when you do... :)
Deleteyou will find you get lots of people visiting just not necessarily leaving comments.......you can see this in your stats...eg. just looked at the stats for my post I have done this morning........already I have had 20 people view it but only 2 comment so far.........also people use feeds to get there posts or sign up by email and I don't think these would come into the stats.........
ReplyDelete..people don't comment as much now as they used too..........probably found more blogs to read............I comment as much as I can manage as I like to get comments too............I have followed your blog for years and years (more then 5) now not sure how we found each other but I I always love to see what your making/growing/farming..............I hope you don't stop blogging as I will miss seeing whats happening in your neck of the woods...........
Sorry not a short answer as requested..........
Wow - I never even thought to go and have a look at my stats on my blogger page - thanks Donna... :)
DeleteYou're right, I don't think people comment as much as they use to either. I'm not sure why though... I try my hardest to comment on every blog post that I read that resonates with me.
I always love checking in with the 'chookyblue' clan too... :)
I'm so glad that you left a long comment, don't be sorry... xx
Please continue with your blog, I have to travel for work and I've never lived in a house as such so I get a thrill out of seeing your garden and the pictures of the veggies as they grow, I like to knit and crochet but I'm not very good so I enjoy seeing your projects too.
ReplyDeleteI have to drive through Cobar a couple of times a year and I noticed your shop, I looked online to see when you were open and found then blog from there
Wow - thank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. Did you ever get the chance to pop into my Shop when it was open? I'm so glad that by chance you have now found my blog and that you continue to follow it... xx
DeleteHi Jodie I never got into the shop, the next time I was coming through you'd closed. I was even going to park my truck down at the Hillston turn off and walk up. I keep going to make an online order but then my truck needs help or my brother's needs an rebuild. I hope all the comments have helped. Kathryn
DeleteThere are so many amazing blogs out there now, that it's just hard to comment on all of them, all the time I think! I only just found you (through Pips course) and I love it - but you've got to do what is right for you, and if you feel you can get what you need from something else, then maybe you can pull back here a little and direct your effort elsewhere for a little while to see if you miss it? Either way, I think your blog is lovely, and clearly very well loved!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right Becs - there are soooo many amazing blogs out there!
DeleteI'm intrigued... What's 'pip's course'? and how did it help you find me?? :)
I'm so glad that you have found me though and thanks for taking the time to leave me such a lovely comment...
Jody..your blog is a constant source of inspiration and a very happy place...I would be extremely sad if you no longer blogged...so many times I have felt a happier person by coming to 'visit'...I certainly will make more of an effort to comment and to express my thanks. Sharyn x
ReplyDeleteoohhh, thank you Sharyn!!! Comments like yours are the very reason why I blog... xx
Delete*Waves hand in the air*
ReplyDeleteYou're one of my most favourite blogs to read, Jodie. I love seeing your garden, your projects, photos of pretty yarn and well, everything you blog about actually. I'm just naughty at commenting!
I'd be really sad if you stopped blogging :(
Please don't go, we love you so!
Mel x
P.S. The letter/number confirmation thing does drive me a bit mental because I can never get the numbers or letters right when I leave a comment & it takes me several goes, but I do understand why you have it :)
REALLY??? That means a lot coming from an amazing blogger such as yourself Mel... :)
DeleteI've removed the letter/number thing-y now so hopefully it will be easier for you to comment from mow on...
Thanks for taking the time to leave me such a gorgeous comment... xx
I love reading your blog soooo much that I had to come back today and make sure you hadn't deleted it, or anything crazy :)
DeletePhew.
That is so lovely to have the number thingy gone - I hope it doesn't end with lots of sp*m for you though, xx
You're too sweet Mel!!!
DeleteI actually used to get more spam with the number thing-y, go figure??
xx
Sorry, I read your blog but don't comment - I love reading your adventures out on the farm, what you do with your kids, your garden, your craft.... If you chose to continue blogging, I promise to comment, ok? I am a shy reserved person, and feel I have nothing to say, but I now realise that I should say something. And that little fellow of yours, he is growing up way too quickly!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment Rita!!! I really do appreciate each and every time that people do and I look forward to the next time that I get the chance to reply to a comment from you.
DeleteYou're right - I can't believe how fast my little guy is growing, he'll be 1 in a week... Where did that year go? :)
Hi Jodie, you know I love your blog! I feel we have a lot in common with regards to farm life, distance education, gardening, living in outback NSW and cooking. Without blogging we may not have become friends. I cant remember where I found you but I follow through my Blogger Dashboard.
ReplyDeleteQuite a few blogs that I follow have questioned there place in blog land recently with some also considering signing off for good. I read a lot of blogs and try to comment on my favourites. But, I would prefer to leave a meaningful comment rather than just a quick...'that looks beautiful/delicious' sort of comment. Leaving a thoughtful comment can take time and there is only so much spare time in a day, as you know!
There is a special 'something' that makes me leave a comment, it is normally something that strikes a chord with me I guess. Sorry, I know you asked for a one answer response! I hope you are having a lovely week x
Thanks Jane. I too love reading your blog and definitely feel a connection with you also as we live such similar lives.
DeleteI really appreciate the effort you put in to your comments and enjoy reading each and every word that you type. I can tell they are very thought out and extremely thoughtful.
xx
Well there you go Miss Jodie - just look at all those comments above!!! We all love reading your blog - I follow you through bloglovin'. I used to read your blog all the time and then registered with this group so I could comment!!! I feel validated when you reply to my comments so keep that up and I love all the photos and I do believe you are well overdue for a video post. Therefore I think it would be an absolute CRIME if you stopped - so don't!! Be assured that although people may not be commenting they are definitely reading and being inspired!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and ready every post, I love seeing what your up to in the garden and crafting. Cant remember how i stumbled across your blog but would miss reading it if you stoped
ReplyDeleteOh Jodie please keep blogging I love reading your posts... I have you in my blog roll and always go see what you have posted... love the crafting... love the farm life... love the kids... love the cooking... I may not comment each time but please be assured I am reading and so are many others xxx
ReplyDeleteI read your blog all the time but rarely comment on yours or anyone elses either.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you on Thursday as we were on our way home from a rushed visit to Queensland and the quickest way home was via Bourke, Louth ( had a couple of not so nice encounters with the local wildlife here), Wilcannia ( spent the night on a private property between these 2) and Menindee.
I have been following your blog for a long time, probably the past 2 years since it will be 2 years in December since I started blogging. I think I leave a comment quite often. You shouldn't feel down hearted though, the most comments I have ever had on my blog might be about 14, but most times it is from 4-8, give or take. I follow over 200 blogs, most I just skim over, but many I comment on, like yours. Let's just put it this way, I comment on more blogs than what comment on mine.
ReplyDeleteSusanne :)
I have followed your blog since July 2009 and have never left a comment before. Please keep on blogging...you have inspired me to start my own blog (coming soon!). I faithfully check to see what is happening in your life every couple of days. To this day I remember the first blog I read of yours! In many ways I feel as though I know you even though we live thousands of miles apart.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie, just another of your no-comment'ers' I love your blog/children and day to day situation and can so relate to it even though my children are well and truly grown up. Please keep posting as I find it a bright spot in a sometimes dry and dusty day (and yes a water drought for us as well now).
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog! Your life is so different from mine LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't always comment...sorry....I'm just lazy lol
Hi Jodie, I do comment but rarely, I love your blog and read it frequently. I love your patterns and suggestions. Sorry dont always think to comment, but I do enjoy your blog! Anne
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie, I am guilty of reading and not often commenting, I often think I'll comment later but never get around to it! (and sometimes I can't think of anything to say!) I love reading about your life on the land, and all your crafty makes. It is so interesting to see all the different ways people live in our big country. I also appreciate all the swaps you organise, I think that is how I first came across Jellywares, the tea and washcloth swap you did a couple of years ago. I hope you continue to blog, all the best, Julie x
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie. Well. I don't recall how I came across your blog, but i'm glad I did!!! I had the 'should I keep blogging' thing on a recent blog as I felt a bit the same. And on my last post 45/52, I had over 80 views on that post, but only got three comments (yours one of them, thanks!). I haven't been as regular with blogging over the last few months because of different stresses running through my life, then, a lack of confidence that anyone would read it. What I love about your blog and why when I do catchup, I look for yours... Great photos, good recipes (although I haven't tried any of them, but you inspire me to want to!), I love your creativity with your knitting/crocheting. You don't come across as the type of blogger who is constantly looking for approval with flashy posts and trying to build thousands of followers. Anyhow, if you have raised the question, maybe have a break for a little while and see if you miss it. Hope you don't stay away for too long though!!!! hugs, Jane x
ReplyDeleteI love your blog Jodie and read every post. I check Blogger everyday, at least once, so catch your post whenever they go up.
ReplyDeleteI don't often comment though, which is rather slack. I love receiving comments on my blog but hardly get around to commenting on others.
I don't get many comments either but I use Blogger and Nuffnang to see how many hits I'm getting on each post which is always nice to see.
Wish I new.You get more then I do. Good Luck. Oh if You get read of all one as to go though to levee a comment it would help.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie. I read all of your posts, but often don't have the time to leave comments. I'm reallly enjoying seeing all your farm life again. Please keep writing, as we all love reading. Cheers Janice
ReplyDeleteHi. One quick suggestion. Take off the authenticity verification from your comments. That may be "turning off" some of your commentors. And not sure why you are concerned with the number of comments. You get a lot compared to what I get. Plus you can always check your Blogger Stats or add Feedjit to let you see who is reading. Love your blog, but if you are fed up with it, just stop. Your followers will understand. ;) Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteAnd you have 525 followers! Now, Girl! You have lots and lots of blogging friends! Some are just more verbal than others. Hugs, Linda
DeleteYour blog is one of my favourites. You always post such lovely stories about farm life and you take such amazing photos (I take inspiration from your style of photography).
ReplyDeleteI hope you do keep blogging. x
Just like others - I am reading your blog. I love every blog I follow to and your's is one of the most favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteVery rarely I comment on blogs but it don't means I don't read or what :)
Greetings from [almost] opposite side of world - Latvia :)
i am slack and I rarely comment but I do read every post Jodie, I think other faster forms of social media have changed blogging a bit but I still love to blog and read blogs and will try harder to let people know I appreciate them by leaving comments.
ReplyDeleteDon't go!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading and enjoying your posts...
Penny

Oh Jodie I love your blog!!! It has exactly the right balance of yarn, cooking, children, gardening and so much more! Even tonight while watching the local news I saw Cobar on the weather and thought, might ask my husband if we we could go for a drive out there. I enjoy reading a few blogs but am guilty of not commenting as I find it difficult as you have to log on with an email address each time. Do you know an easier way? Please keep writing you brighten my husband and my days 😀
ReplyDeleteI follow using my Bloglovin' feed. Makes it so easy to keep up with my favourite blogs! But I don't leave comments very often as I often read "on the run". ;)
ReplyDelete~S.
I do read your blog and have left comments, but not always. I do not get many comments on my blog, and it makes me wonder what I need to do to attract some more viewers, I leave comments on blogs and they do not seem to want to visit mine or maybe they don't leave comments but I like comments! I like your blog, and have picked up ideas and patterns from it, so keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy what you have to share :)
ReplyDeleteI have been a quiet lurker since I returned to work fulltime 4 1/2 years ago. I don't have much time but every hump day, I have lunch at my desk and catch up with my favourite reads. I don't have the time to channel my creative energies into making for myself or my daughter anymore (that's what happens in the day job it seems these days) but love to live vicariously through my favourite makers. Your blog has inspired me to design, plant and tend a garden in small town house which had very poor soil in the backyard. Pup and Miss 6 now have adventures amongst the veggie patches of various heights/ My workplaces doesn't allow for me to reply to blogs. I love to read your blog. It takes me back to a time when I was in my early 20s and transplanted into Western Queensland. I enjoyed 3 1/2 of the 4 years I was there, teaching kids from the bush. A change of principals made my job and living conditions extremely unpleasant and my grandfather, whom I was very close to, became ill so I returned to the city. Your blog reminds me of all the talented women I met who opened their homes to a very curious city girl. It makes me feel young again. It takes me back and helps to remind me of a whole different world that those who cling to The Coast have no idea about. It would be sad if your blog was to go quiet and you moved to Instagram or Facebook. I would miss our hump day rendezous, my guilty pleasure. Well, reports will not write themselves unfortunately. I hope to read more of your adventures.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie - please don't stop. I love reading about your life and adventures.
ReplyDeleteI recently found you and follow you on Bloglovin. I just sent your info to my sister who has recently learned how to crochet. I really enjoy your Blog and hope you continue! I read the blogs in the morning before I leave and I just don't have time to comment on all of them. But I understand your frustration. I will try to do better as I do appreciate the time you put into your blog! Have a wonderful day! Darlene from Ohio, USA
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie, I'm another lurker, mum of 3.5 in northern Victoria. We are also on the land, but not on as large a scale. I love 2 get glimpses into your life, the kids, the veg patch, your beautiful crochet! It always puts a smile on my face and appreciate my surroundings. I'm terrible at commenting on blogs, but perhaps I need to practice more!
ReplyDeleteHello Jodie, I've been a long time lurker for years. Came for the knitting but stay for you beautiful country life & family stories. Love the cooking. As a city slicker I marvel at all you do. I adore the wholesome feel. Love it. Favorite blog.
ReplyDeleteLove reading your blog...and seeing pics of where you live!
ReplyDeleteHey Jode,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is fantastic! I know how you feel though, I have taken long breaks from my blog as life has gotten so busy and my readership is nowhere near as big as yours! I would love to grow my readership as I get back into blogging, its just finding the time to blog that I struggle with sometimes!
I love your blog!
xo Ellie
I'm always excited to see a new post from you. Alot of your posts inspire me and give me great ideas. I'd be miss it you stopped. Please keep up the blog. I love the pictures and projects you post. Just check out all these comments from people who love getting a glimpse at your special life.
ReplyDeleteOf course we are hear. I read your posts at work and I dont tend to take the time to comment.....sorry. xx
ReplyDeleteI often wonder the same thing Jodie!
ReplyDeleteI found you through 'The Shady Baker' and your blog relates to much of my world too so I keep reading :)
Kate x
I love reading your blog I find all that you do inspiring and it's lovely to see your little family growing! Please keep going!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog also. I think if a blog post had a like button, not just an option to leave a comment that you'd get plenty of responses!!! People just don't seem to post comments very often. It definetly can get disconcerting to post and receive no comments. Especially when you can see how many people have actually visited a post ( I use Stat counter). Everybody needs positive feedback. Hope you will keep writing after all of yours!!
ReplyDeleteHi! I don't remember when I found your blog, but it was a few years ago. You had a pattern for a lacy looking washer that I loved, and as a non-crochet/non-knit person I asked my daughter to make it for me! She did, and I used it until it became shreds--that's how I know I found your blog a long time ago :) I rarely comment on blogs, but I love reading them--especially when they are craft related, with a beautiful dose of family and scenery added in for balance. I'm intrigued to read about people in far-away-to-me places. I love to travel and have found that there are wonderful people wherever you go! Thanks for blogging.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember when I discovered your blog, but I've been quietly reading (and, obviously) not commenting for quite a long time now. I got drawn in by posts about knitting and continued reading because your life is so very different from mine. You have a young family and live on a sheep farm, I am an empty nester with a retired husband living in a city in the middle of a popular wine growing region. Southern hemisphere versus Northern hemisphere. Can't get much more different. I enjoy your posts a lot and really should leave comments here and in other places much more often. So, today I did. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to write about it.
ReplyDeleteI too, don't remember when and how I started reading your blog, but you are listed as one of my favourites and I always read what you say... I know how you feel about lack of comments.. I wonder if I am talking to myself at times too... but then I think of the movie, Julie & Julia, which is a true story and realise a lot of people read and not comment.. hang in there, I am!
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie..I agree with Jane ( shady baker ) I don't always comment....unless I think there's something interesting I can add ;) Maybe I read too many blogs!! Even though we live around the same town, it can sometimes be a few weeks before I get to catch up with you...I enjoy seeing what you have been doing!! Anyway, hope u keep blogging...and I'll see you on Sunday xo
ReplyDeleteI check up on you guys every week...and have commented a couple of times...I love to see piccies from your surrounds..it brings back memories for me...I miss it out there
ReplyDeleteHi! I've recently started following your blog and I enjoy reading it. I've starting making a conscious to comment more on blogs, there needs to be more of it!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Lynda.
Keep writing - love reading your blog..
ReplyDeleteil tuo blog è molto bello, non commento perchè non so la tua lingua (uso il translate) continua, desidero vedere ancora
ReplyDeletePlease keep blogging. I really enjoy visiting your little space.
ReplyDeleteKate xx
I found you through The Shady Baker and have been lurking for a while! It seems to take me a while before I actually comment on a blog when I start reading a new one (no idea why) and as I try to say something constructive rather than - fab photo or whatever - that takes me even longer. I enjoy seeing the way you live as it's so different from living on a farm over here in UK so I hope you don't stop now that I've found you.
ReplyDeleteI just ran across your blog today through pinterest. I love your cute crochet projects and hope to see more! :)
ReplyDeleteI do post on my own blog about once a week, and although there are at least a hundred visitors a week, I get sometimes just one or two comments. But to be honest, I visit at least 50 blogs a week and also only leave a comment if the subject really is something that is tickling me to react. So don't think that your stories aren't apprecieted, but surfing on the net goes fast and clicking, typing and thinking about a good reaction is more time consuming then most surfers want it to be...
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a couple of years and advertise it on my blog as one that I follow.... Love your post especially when you a hooking along on a project, preserving or sharing your life on the farm...
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for at least two years now. I'm just not much of a commenter. Anyway, I really enjoy reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm behind the times, but keep blogging! I have bought a few things from your shop and love reading your blog. You're living my dream!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm behind the times, but keep blogging! I have bought a few things from your shop and love reading your blog. You're living my dream!
ReplyDeleteI've found your blog today via a picture posted on Pinterest of your little star tutorial. I am now following you. I love reading crafty blogs and I guess I'm nosey enough to want to know what's going on in other's lives. So don't stop, especially as I've only just found you!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of starting a blog myself but don't have the slightest idea of how to start!
Please don't stop Jodie! I love hearing what you are up to & watching your beautiful children as they grow. You are a constant source of inspiration and as always I am in awe of how you manage to do all you do! I love seeing your projects and always look forward to your tutorials. Sorry I don't always comment, I will try to comment more. Xxx
