New Seeds

Yesterday the weather was gorgeous, perfect for planting out some new seeds that arrived in the post this week - heirloom cucumbers, french sweet corn, bull's blood beetroot, ruby red carrots, mini purple onions, and 6 more varieties of tomatoes (I'm super excited about the Thai pink one's!!!??!!)....

I normally buy my organic vegetable seeds from Diggers but this year decided to try out these guys instead...

So far I'm very impressed!!! I love the packaging (the seeds are actually in mini zip-lock bags inside their paper packs which I'm loving) and the oodles of info that came with each lot of seeds that I purchased is really helpful - some things I already knew but there was a lot of other info that I actually didn't!!!

So while Millie and I planted up yet another bounty of veg for my Spring/Summer garden Connie sat at the other end of the table constructing something that she proudly informed me was super important too...

Do you have a favourite seed supplier that you like to use??? I'd love to hear about them!!!!

  3. I like Johnny's Selected Seeds in Maine (USA). I don't know if that is easily available to you. I have done several posts on my blog about their seeds, including the "Great Bean Experiments". I am going to try to get some more seeds in the ground the weekend as well.

  4. I mostly save my own seeds but do like to try a few new, 'old' varieties each season. I usually buy from Digger's, Eden Seeds or The Lost Seed. I have had Greenharvest before and Gippsland too and never had any trouble with any of our seeds or the service either.

Good luck with your growing. I have lots of things in pots ready to go but the weather has definitely turned nasty today.

  6. We have several here in the states, but I usually just go to the greenhouse and pick out plants and seeds. That way I am not waiting for the postman.

  7. I really hated Digggers new packaging and will be giving them the flick until they revert to a seed packet that can be opened and closed easily. I couldn't quite work out the company that you are trialing but I have been happy with Eden seeds and Green feast? in the past. Good luck with your spring planting.
