HELP PLEASE!!!! Oh, and some exciting news....

DH, the little princess and I headed over to Bourke for a farm clearing sale on Saturday. They're always such a great family day out. Here's the little princess having a spell in a bucket of nuts and bolts that DH bought...
I always manage to pick up loads of goodies at these kinds of sales.... The 2 hoes in the pic above I grabed for $1 each and the Welburn wood stove in the pic below was only $5, yes that's right, $5....
I want to get it re-enameled so that I can put in my new kitchen (that's when it finally gets started in September) but I need a bit of HELP first.... I was wondering if there were any women (or men) out there that have one of these ovens in their home at the moment. If so, do you use it????? Has anyone ever put one in there home??? If so, how did you do it??? We have one in our cottage that's built into a fireplace so I was wondering if I would need to do the same thing if I was putting one in my home???? Is it hard to get the temperature right in this kind of oven when you're baking??? And lastly does any body know where I could find an old manual for this oven??? Wow!!! That's a lot of questions, I know, but I'd so love to build my new kitchen around an old classic like this....
On the farm front, I had a new arrival on Friday last week..... This little treasure is this little girls first baby and let me tell you now, she's doing a sensational job as a mother... :)
And hopefully I will be able to too when baby number 2 comes along in December (you can just see my baby bump in the pics above)..... Yes that's right I'm pregnant with my second bub, 16 weeks and 6 days to be exact... DH and I went to the doctors today to confirm our suspicion's and we even got a chance to hear the heart beat. I have a scan this weekend over at Dubbo so I'll post some pics of the little one next week.

I found out the sex with my first baby but was thinking about leaving this one a surprise... What did you do when you were pregnant??? Did you find out the sex??? I'd love to hear your story...

Last but not least, I whipped up these cord pants for the little princess this morning before I headed to town for my 'day job'. I'm so pleased at how they turned out I can't wait to whip up another pair....Thanks for all of the lovely comments in regards to my scarf from the last post. I'll be posting the pattern for all of those ladies interested in a couple of days...

Take Care :)

Loads of Goodies.....

I have heaps and heaps of pictures to show everyone so I won't bore you with too many words this post..... I promise!!! First up are some pics of the goodies that I picked up at the Vinnie's I visited in Cootamundra last Friday while I was at Mums. The embroidered stuff in the top pic cost 10cents each and the zippers and buttons cost $1.50. I just love Vinnie's, such great bargains to be found every time. Here's some of the fabric that I scored at Spotlight in Wagga Wagga.....It's not a very good pic, I know.... Spotlight is getting in some really fantastic Japanese prints at the moment which makes it such a pleasure to shop there even though it's a pig sty at the best of times. This is a pic of the crochet monkey that I'm making for one of my nephews for Xmas.....I only have 1 leg, 2 shoes, a mouth, an applique on his shirt and a seam in his shorts and his all done. I've got 5 nephews and have decided to make them all a toy similar to this one, each individual in some way or another to suit each of the boys personalities, with an applique of their initial on the them. I'll team it up with a cute little homemade bag filled with books. I think that they'll be pretty happy little boys, don't you?? They are all under 3 so teddies are still such a big part of their lives...LOL!!!!

My next project is some fabric softies..... I'll be trying to make the pattern up so wish me luck!!! I'll keep you posted on my progress. :)

What a Find!!!!

On Friday afternoon my sister and I decided to go down town to the local Op/Thrift shop for a bit of a look see. We were both surprised, once again, by all of the goodies that we found. I picked up this lot for 80 cents.....I then found these little embroidered pillow slips for 10 cents each. I thought that they'd be great incorporated into a child's quilt or garment. There was also this big swatch of fabric for 10 cents. It measures about 1.5m x 1m when folded out. I'm sure that it won't be hard to think of something to sew up with it. Does any one have any suggestions???
I've also picked up another apron for 10 cents to add to my collection although I don't think that this one is going to my apron stash, instead it's on its way to the fabric pile as I really love the strip of fabric in the middle. So unfortunately this poor little apron has sacrificed its life so that I can recycle about a 1/4 of a metre of fabric (sigh)......................
I just love books and when I came across these 2 beauties for 20 cents I couldn't resist.
Firstly, this book was purchased for my little princess and it's just adorable!!!! All of the pictures throughout this book are crafted out of fabric. It's all put together like a collage and then a photo is taken of it and that's a page in the book. You can't really tell but the front cover is crafted in this way also.
Then this book is for me of coarse.... Seen as though I'm new to the spinning scene this book looks like it'll come in very handy. It has heaps of tips for first timers and loads of pictures detailing, step by step, the process of spinning.
As you can see I've been very spoilt once again with all of these goodies. I hope that this inspires people to get out there and support there local Op/Thrift shop. I guess the old saying is right..... Someones trash is another persons treasure.
Have a great weekend.......

Thrifty Finds

Yesterday I popped into my local thrift shop, St Vinnie's, and look at what I found... I just couldn't believe my eyes when I came across a big basket labelled 'aprons'. It had about 30 or so in it... I was in heaven! I just love aprons and some of the fabric in these old ones will be fantastic sewn into mini aprons for my princess like in this post.

Now I could have bought all of those beautiful aprons as they were only 50cents each and I know that the money goes to a good cause, but I restrained myself and only bought 8. It was so hard to pick which lucky aprons would be spending the rest of their life in my wonderful abode..... After an hour of decision making I'm pretty happy with the selections that I have made. My favourite one of them all would have to be this one...
I just love the daisy fabric, it's absolutely DIVINE!!!! As you can see it still has the original tag on it...
Now isn't that priceless? I also noticed these little treasures while I was sorting through the aprons. They are the cutest little things! After a soak in detol and a good clean they've come up brand new. They all stack inside each other and as you can see my little princess thinks they're pretty terrific.

That about wraps it up for my thrifty post... I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Spring Seed Swap?

I had big plans of sharing a late Winter garden update with you all this post, full of beautiful pictures of Wintry produce such as peas (...
