Traditions....

One of the traditions we started when my little princess was born was 'EATING PANCAKES' for Shrove Tuesday. Last year we ate pancakes for breaky and this year we went the whole hog and decided to eat them for our main meal at dinner....DH loves jam and cream on his where as little princess and I love maple syrup and cream.... What's your favourite pancake topping??? What traditions do you share with your family?? I'd love to hear all about them... ;)

  1. We like butter and jelly on pancakes, but creme sounds like a wonderful idea!

No traditions for tuesday here, but it is fun to see what others are doing.

  2. Wow, I had never heard of Shrove Tuesday before this. I wish I had, because I love pancakes!! Usually my favorite topping is real maple syrup, but sometimes I have a craving for molasses on them. Mmmmm...that sounds so good right now, if it wasn't almost midnight here I would be whipping up a batch! :)

  3. Well, our family tradition happens on a Saturday morning when my husband makes us all french crepes. They are just beautiful. My favourite topping is 'real' maple syrup.

  4. My favourite topping is lemon and sugar. Closely followed by real maple syrup (not maple flavoured syrup - there is a WORLD of difference!).

    Love those crochet dishcloths.

  6. Oh yumm - this year we had locally made strawberry and cherry jam (well from Young anyway - can I call that local???)

Our family tradition is picnic fridays. We either get take away or take the making for a bbq or I cook a quiche or something else yummy and portable! No matter where we live we have found a nice place to have it - here it is the famous 'beach' (and yes we catch the 5 o'clock wave!)

  7. No I've never celebrated Shrove Tuesday, and can you believe it, I don't fancy pancakes much either but Jam & Cream on scones, now that's another story. My kids would have loved to have dinner at your place.

  9. definately maple syrup and cream. mmm
we are a big pancake family. i come from a big family and i think it was one of those things that mum could whip up easily and it was cheap. i remember her making piles and piles of them as there were always extra kids at our house. she still makes them and i've started to take on the tradition as well!

  13. I usually have sugar, butter and maple syrup on my pancakes, but lately I have been making crepes and dousing them in honey and butter.
