**leave now if you're a snake lover**
We shot our first brown snake for the season on Tuesday.
I was pushing a wheel-barrow full of sheep pooh back to the house yard from the shearing shed when I almost stood on this little bugger.
It was so close to the back lawn it wasn't funny - the very place my 2 girls had been playing not 2 mins before hand.
I hate snakes!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind snakes but the browns are evil buggers, aggressive, I hate them. We've seen a lot of babies in past years and I'm hoping Mum isn't around. We're minutes from the ambos and they still scare the living beejezus out of me! toni xxx
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you shot it. I still remember your little doggie being bitten by that snake on one of your posts. Hope you dont have anymore too close too home.
ReplyDeleteEeek, I'd be wanting to get rid of it quick smart too! I don't think I'd be able to go back out into the yard for the next week!
ReplyDeleteIt is a real reminder of how dangerous nature can be.
ReplyDeleteBe careful as the fierce snake is travelling further afeild,we have them here and they were at Dunlop too, otherwise known as inland taipan
ReplyDeleteaaarrgh! at the risk of offending nature lovers... good shot Jodie. Your children and family come first. I used to live in an area where snakes were common and it erked the hell out of me. you spend the rest of the day looking for another one don't you. Jane x
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the shop update Calamity Jane ;)
ReplyDeleteA girl after my own heart! I hate them around the house and with the warm weather over the next few days I guess they will start to be on the move, even over here. Mick reckons the best way to kill a snake is with a stick #410 or 12 guauge. Shovels are too short. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe only good snake is a dead snake we say around here......EXCEPT for the lovely pythons though. Good shot!
ReplyDeleteoh I know the snake feeling.........when you know it is "GONE" was seriously looking out for them today walking around in the roadside with the cows...........quite a few rolly polly for them to get into..........I was looking out well.......perfect snake "coming out" weather...........
ReplyDeleteEwwwwww! I'm so happy you've taken care of that snake -- it must be a constant worry with your little girls. I hope you won't see anymore of the creepy things!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning! I was just wondering yesterday when they would start to make an appearance. After two snakes inside last season I am not looking forward to this summer (although I must say I don't mind snakes out in the paddock, I just don't like them around the house near Ida).
ReplyDeleteI remember learning that Australia has the most deadliest snakes on earth. You need to get a mongoose girl!! I hate snakes too!
ReplyDeleteUgh! Snakes...*chills*...we have had no browns since we moved out to where we are now, but we have had 2 red bellied blacks which were both promptly dealt with (one with a bobcat bucket and one with a huge crowbar as that was what was on hand at the time)...thanks for the timely reminder about these sneaky creatures...I will have to have "the snake talk" with my girls today I think...*shivers*
ReplyDeleteThe only good snake is a dead snake as the saying goes.
ReplyDeleteAll that lovely wool in your shop I could sit and feel all day:-)
You need a mongoose or a peacock!! The peacock does a job on the rattlesnakes.... I would think it could manage your browns... So did you happen to have a gun on you at the time? Sure hope so!!! Yuck!
