Ginormous!!!!

After all of the great feed back on my chunky crochet hat from last week I decided that it definitely needed an over-sized flower added to the side...

So armed with some gorgeous charcoal 128 cascade chunky and a simply divine purple button, I set to work creating something ginormous for the side of my chunky hat...
I'm so thrilled with how it turned out, what do you think???I can see many more of these over-sized flowers adorning my projects from now on...

Gorgeous Fibres....

Being surrounded by gorgeous fibres 3 days of the week has really made it hard to think about anything else but knitting (oh, and crochet too).... So the latest project hot off the needles (a 10mm circular to be exact) is yet another chunky cowl.
This one has a lace pattern worked through it and the shade of yarn that I used, vintage grape, is that delicious looking that I swear I could eat it all up...
If you're loving this pattern, it's a freebie when you purchase 1x200g skein of the super chunky 20ply from my shop. Just write 'lacy cowl' in the comment section of the checkout and the PDF will be emailed to you within 48hrs. Happy Knitting!!!!!

Chunky Charm...

I think it's official, I'm absolutely hooked on Nundle's 20ply pure wool.... I love it's chunky charm and how super quick it works up. The bulky warmth if provides is just divine especially on a fresh morning...
This little scalloped hat is a project one of my crochet classes are working on.
I'm thinking that maybe I need to add an over-sized flower to the side, what do you think???Here's hoping you're keeping warm while the temps are starting to drop where you are...

Itching.....

I'm loving the cool afternoons of late, they're just perfect for rugging up....Hand-knits are always an essential when the temps drop and my most favourite at the moment would have to be this super simple little tri-peak hat...
I used my very first ball of hand-spun to make it so it holds a very special place in my heart...

And when it tops my little Millie's head my heart just melts!!! I'm so itching to spin up some more.....

Granny Love...

I had some gorgeous ladies in the shop today for a 'learn to crochet' class... We went through the basics and then started on some granny squares....
I am so impressed at how well they all picked it up and am looking so forward to our next class next week... I made a pastel cotton granny......
And an earthy pure wool one to show how different 2 kinds of yarn can look in the same pattern....
I love granny's and if you do too stay tuned for my pic tutorial coming very soon...

Chunky Cowl....

This afternoon while making another batch of Ricotta I was thinking that it was high time I shared my revised recipe with you all....
After a lot of trial and error I've finally came up with the perfect vinegar/milk combo to make the creamiest ricotta....
I use 750ml of full cream milk (straight from the sheep/cow/goat is best but you can also use the store bought pasteurised kind too) to 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. I pour both into a heavy based saucepan and bring to the boil.
As soon as I see the first lot of bubbles in my milk/vinegar mixture I take it off the heat and allow it to sit for about 10 mins (this is when the magic happens). After 10 mins I strain through a fine colander, pushing down with my fist to drain the fluid. From this 750ml I get about 200ml of delicious creamy ricotta, YUMM-O!!!!
I've also been busily knitting up a storm with some new wool (to be released in my shop this week)...
This chunky cowl was such a pleasure to knit that I've already cast on for another 2...
And to spice things up a bit they are both in deliciously bright colours.... The pattern will be a freebie when you purchase a 200g skein of the gorgeous 20ply Australian pure wool from my shop..
I'm also working on a lacy version in a deep ruby red that I'm dying to share with you all....
I can see alto of this new yarn not even making it to the shelves in my shop, I love it that much... LOL!!!

Plenty of Pouches....

First up....... Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mum's out there!!!!
Thanks for the great response to testing my new crochet hat pattern from my previous post. I'll have the pdf done up by Wednesday next week (hopefully) and a copy will be sent to each of your emails.... I'm so looking forward to seeing how each of you interprets my pattern, especially those newbie crocheter's out there, this is going to be fun!!!!
I've been lucky enough to spend some quality time doing 2 of my favourite crafts this week and now have 'Plenty of Pouches' for my shop..... The fabric ones are Project Pouches but would be great for just about any task that involves hauling something around with you...
And these little knitted one's are Coin Pouches... My free pattern can be found here (if you're not on ravelry yet let me know and I'll email you the pattern). I used some of the delicious Cotton Rich from my shop for these cutie's, it's just heavenly to knit with and with all but 2 skeins of the blue colourway left in the shop I can see that everybody else thinks so too....
Enjoy the rest of your day..... Hugs.......... Jodie xx

Grab a Granny....

Crochet really is my craft of choice at the moment with the creation of a cute little hat the latest thing off the hook...
My new found obsession is thanks to the ever inspiring Kylie and all of the beautiful crochet goodness she has been creating of late, oh and my love of 'granny' squares, of-coarse...
For this hat I used a 4mm hook and some gorgeous Sierra yarn from Cascade...
This 80% cotton/20% pure wool blend is just gorgeous. I can definitely see myself creating one of these using it in the very near future....
The pattern was one of my own, created in the wee hours of this morning... I'd love to hear if you'd be interested in test 'crocheting' my 'Grab a Granny' hat...
What's your craft of choice at the moment??

hexagon heaven

I've been obsessed with hexagons lately and as a result have 2 table runners to show for it.... A yummy earthy one using some Magnum Soft and 16 hexagons.... And another one using some standard Magnum and 9 hexagons, (both yarns were from my stash)...
Hexagons are super easy to whip up and you can turn them into almost any thing... I'm loving this gorgeous pot-holder and how cute are these little pin cushions????
I've also been playing around with the spinning wheel and plying up some cotton....
These little 25g hanks are super addictive to make up and are the perfect size for my standard washcloth pattern which is listed to the right in the side bar (for free)....
(Find them in my shop for $2.50 each...)
