New Found Obsession!!!!

I'm absolutely loving ric-rac at the moment... Not the kind that you buy in the shop, no, this stuff is extra special!!!! It's handmade, well hand crocheted to be exact, and sooooo TOTALLY ADDICTIVE!!!!! (Oh and super simple too)
I'm attatching it to everything but am loving it most of all when I sew it on to the bottom of super cute little skirts for my girls....
For those crochet minder crafters out there I'll share my little pattern with you...
Crochet Ric-Rac : : 1st row - Chain 3, into first ch (DC, ch2, DC) turn. 2nd Row - ch2, in ch2 space from previous row (DC, ch2, DC) turn. Repeat 2nd Row until ric-rac is desired length....
How easy was that????? If you're having troubles working out my 'crochet' talk let me know and I'll try to make sense of it for you.... :)
I don't know if you can remember but back here I talked about making some Grape Jam..... Well I made it alright and it was super simple and super delicious....The jar on the left is green grape jam and the one on the right is black grape jam... How gorgeous is the green grape jam now that its turned a heavenly deep pink after the cooking process...
To make your own grape jam just rapidly boil 1 cup of sugar to every 1 cup of grapes... To prepare the grapes just rinse your grapes and don't worry about the seeds, they'll float to the top as the jam boils, I then just scoop them out with a small sieve.......
What's your favourite jam recipe???? I have one that I'm going to give a go in the next couple of weeks for pumpkin jam, sounds very interesting doesn't it???

Take Care........................ Jodie....................

  1. Very cute! Crochet is just one of those things Ive not been able to pick up.... a bit like knitting; I can knit but I can cast on/off or "un-knit" if I make a mistake...

My fave jams are raspberry jam and apricot, homemade of course :-)

  2. Darling little crocheted trim! Thanks for sharing the pattern. What I like about it is that you don't have to determine the length at the beginning. You can just keep crocheting until it is as long as you need it. Very nice!

  3. Now if only I could crochet properly Jodie. Your crocheted ric rac looks simply adorable on those little skirts. The grape jam looks nice. I think my favourite has to be raspberry jam, just delicious on scones and lemon butter which I cant help but love too.

  5. I think pumpkin jam is an acquired taste! Well it was to us anyway... I think we had difficulty enjoying the jam for what it was as we seemed to keep thinking about what went into it. We couldn't bring the two together - vegetable and jam....

I hope you have loads of success with it, though, and I'll bet it'll taste lovely!

  10. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest,
Washington and Oregon states... in the U.S. I grew up with blackberry and raspberry jam... love both!
Anyway... we had loads of blackberries up there... they grew wild. Great memories of going to pick them with my grandparents! The blackberries vines grow and grow.... they will cover up a car if you leave it in place too many years! LoL... Grandpa would take an old sheet of plywood and throw it on top of a big vine bramble and set up the ladder so my brother and I could pick sitting on the wood sheet! It was easier to pick and then we didn't get hung up in the stickers that are on the vines! Of course you have to eat 1 or 2 and then pick 1 to put into the bucket! Happy Days!

  11. hi jodie, your ric-rac looks great! i wish i could crochet i can knit but very slow. i'm definitly a sewer! one unusual jam i made was called green tomatoe jam- a good way to use up tomatoes at the end of the season. it has a bit of ginger in it -quite tasty too! The recipe was in an 'aunt Daisy" cook book.

  14. I used to sharpen up my crochet hook a bit and crochet around lots of stuff to give a similar effect, worked best with a big weave...blankets etc..but not as cute and easy as this!
